How to use Tilez

Getting Started

Drop a single square texture into the center tile field (the middle square of the 3×3 grid), and Tilez will automatically generate a complete 47-blob tilemap that is ready to use in videogames.

Editor (3×3 Grid Preview)

The editor shows a live preview of how your tile will look in a 3×3 arrangement. You can drag the edges of the ring to adjust thickness directly. Use scroll to zoom, and middle-click or Ctrl+click to pan the view.

Shape Controls

  • Thickness — Controls how thick the blob border is. Higher values create thicker, chunkier blobs.
  • Outer radius — Rounds the outer corners of each blob tile. Creates softer, more organic shapes.
  • Inner radius — Rounds the inner corners where the blob meets adjacent tiles. Creates smoother transitions.

Border Controls

Set Fill to Color or Texture to add an outline or edge effect to your tiles:

  • Fill — Choose None (no border), Color (solid color), or Texture (textured border).
  • Texture offset — Drag the texture preview to shift the pattern. Coordinates are shown below.
  • Color / Texture — Set the border color with the picker, or drop in a texture image.
  • Width — How many pixels the border extends outward from the tile edge.
  • Taper — Controls how the border fades: 0 = solid, higher = gradual falloff.
  • Smoothing — Blends the border into the source texture for a more natural look.
  • Opacity — Transparency of the border.
  • Sides — Toggle which sides (N, E, S, W) receive borders.

Output

  • Tile size — The pixel dimensions of each individual tile in the output atlas.
  • Export PNG — Downloads the complete 47-tile atlas as a PNG image.

Atlas Preview

The bottom panel shows the full generated tileset atlas. Scroll to zoom, left-click drag or middle-click / Ctrl+click to pan, and double-click to reset the view.
